David Penn (non)

David Penn, founder of the music label Urbana Recordings and the music publishing company Zen Records has been working in the music industry for more than 15 years.
He started to play piano at the age of 9, heavily influenced by funk, soul, jazz and by electronic music, Penn is a versatile producer, who tries to fuse his musical influences with new technologies combining old harmonies with contemporary sounds. His sound is in constant evolution.

One of his biggest hits was Kadoc "The Night Train", which sold more than 2 million copies around the world. It reached position number 12 in the UK charts and number 1 in Holland. In those days he played in Denmark, Germany, France, UK, Holland, Miami and Russia.

David Penn releases tracks under the different aka`s, Deux, Montilla, Nuboy or Doblado and has worked with very some important names in the electronic scene such as Dj Chus, who David met in 1994Since then he has worked on several projects, remixes and gigs; Peter Gelderblom, Ceballos, Toni Bass, Halo, Dj Jabato, Sebastián Gamboa, Camilo Franco and Olav Basoski. He has also worked in remixes for Jay-J, Junior Jack, Chus & Ceballos, Vibe Residents, Milk & Sugar, Dave Storm, Wackside, Lenny Fontana, Ron Hall, Jason Hates Jazz, Cam or The Thief ton ame but a few. Record labels that have seen David`s releases on their catalogue include Defected, Black Vinyl, Purple Music, Azuli, Bluem, Maya or Rise.
In 2007 he was awarded the Best House Production for his track Montilla "From the Stars" by Spanish Deejay's magazine awards. All these releases, remixes, labels and awards have given David a big reputation as a remixer and as a producer, he is now one of the most popular artists on the electronic scene.

The achievement David is most proud of is, without a doubt, his label Urbana Recordings. He founded it back in 2003 starting a new division of Zen Records. It was an instant success among the professional dj world thanks to the new fresh music he started to release. Urbana`s records are played by Djs such as Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Bob Sinclair, Dj Chus… It has been nominated for Best Breakthrough Label in House Music Awards (UK) and got the Best Label 2006 award in Spanish magazine Deejay.

David Penn also has a renowned career as a Dj having played in the Winter Music Conference in Miami, in Russia, in Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Germany , Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Malta, Egypt, , Argel, Maroc…… He has recently received 2 Dj awards: Best House Dj 2006 and Best Club House Dj 2007 in Spanish Deejay magazine.
David Penn also enjoys the radio world and hosts a 2 hour radio show every Thursday at www.locafm.com (Loca Fm Spain) from 22:00 to 00:00 (Europe Time): Urbana Radio Show.
In his sets David combines a clear and defined house music style with different influences ranging from underground house to energetic and musical tracks, being always seduced by classic tracks.
